Cooking with CBD Oil

If you haven’t tried CBD oil yet, you probably know someone who has, and they have been raving about all its health benefits! Where it was once taboo to talk about and considered an alternative supplement, CBD has made it just about everywhere. Cannabidiol or CBD is one of the naturally occurring plant molecules found in hemp and cannabis plants. It does not produce intoxicating effects as THC does, which means it will not make you feel high, but does have many health benefits like anti-inflammatory and anxiolytic properties.

One popular way of getting your daily dose of CBD is by using CBD oil. There are many different types of CBD oils, depending on the type of CBD being used as well as the carrier oil and they are normally used by administering the oil sublingually (under the tongue) to get almost instant results. But some don’t really enjoy the taste or the thought of directly ingesting oil and so a lot of people have begun cooking with CBD oil instead.

CBD Drinks

Adding CBD oil to your beverages is quite simple. You can add your CBD oil to cold beverages like smoothies and shakes or to your hot beverages such as coffee and tea. Simply add the dosing you prefer to your drink and enjoy your CBD drinks. Another way to get the best out of your CBD dosing in your beverages is by using a water-soluble CBD tincture instead. Using a water-soluble CBD product will help the CBD to emulsify into the beverage better instead of having to constantly mix the drink. Try the following smoothie recipe with one of our Broad Spectrum or Full Spectrum CBD oils:

Pour into a glass and enjoy!

Baking with CBD oil

Just as it is simple to infuse your beverages with CBD oil, it is just as easy to bake or cook with it. Baking with CBD can be fun and rewarding at the same time but there is one tip to remember that will help you get the best out of your CBD dosing in your baked goods. Always remember to not heat your CBD over 350 degrees Fahrenheit otherwise the CBD molecule will begin to break down and not be as effective as it should be. Baking with CBD oil is a great way to make healthy treats for not only yourself but for your pets too! When baking your own products, you know exactly what you’re putting in your recipe and therefore you can control what is being put into your body.

Another way to get the best out of your CBD dosing through food is by adding your CBD oil to non-bake recipes. Non-bake recipes are a great alternative because there is no heat being added to the CBD and therefore you are not breaking down the molecule and losing its effectiveness. CBD is fat-soluble, which means that it absorbs into the fat cells where it is then broken down through the liver and then enters the bloodstream. Combining CBD oil with non-bake recipes that have fat-soluble ingredients such as peanut butter will offer a high absorption rate into the body.

Tips for cooking with CBD oil

As mentioned above, it is super easy to infuse your favorite drinks and meals with CBD oil. Check out the following tips to get the best out of your CBD infusions:

Never place CBD oil over direct heat – heat will break down the molecule and lower how effective the dosing will be. If you are making a nice plate of Pasta with Pesto, rather than cooking the pasta in CBD oil, add the CBD oil to your pesto paste and mix once the pasta is off the heat.

Mix CBD oil with another cooking oil – CBD is fat-soluble and so when you mix it with other oils such as avocado or coconut oil, you are increasing the absorption of CBD in the body. For example, try mixing your CBD oil with extra virgin olive oil to top your salads.

Don’t mix your CBD with alcohol or other medications – It is best to consult a physician before mixing your CBD dosing with other medications. CBD may also cause drowsiness when being used with alcohol. Be sure to not drive any vehicles and minimize dosing while consuming alcohol.
